May: A Monthly Muse
It's May, arguably the best month here in the British countryside!
But why is it so great?
The dawn chorus reaches its peak in May as more birds join the morning cacophony, if you're an early riser then fling your windows open around 5am to get the full effect (it'll be worth it - wepromise!). If that's not happening, then listen along here!
The hedgerows & woodlands are looking their best with Bluebells, Hawthorn and Cow Parsley all doing their thing. And there's plenty to forage this month.
You might notice a surge in Butterflies at this time of year, especially if we have warmer days. Check out this handy identification guide.
Aaaand, there's two Bank Holidays! With May Day - or Beltane - being celebrated as the first day of Summer since the time of the Celts.
